Online service for police clearance

HOME Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal inaugurated the Online Police Clearance service at a programme in Police Telecom Auditorium at Rajarbagh Police Lines on Sunday. He hoped the service will ease sufferings of the citizens and reduce their alleged harassments at police stations and government offices as well as save money and time. The service has been launched jointly by Bangladesh Police and Access to Information (a2i) programme under the Prime Minister's Office. According to a press release from the Police Headquarters, the service is available at cc.police.gov.bd. The page can also be accessed from the menu of www.police.gov.bd. The service was experimentally launched in Comilla on Nov 20 last year and in Sylhet on Jan 1.0 this year. A full-fledged programme has now been launched after successful trial runs, the press release added. More than 14,000 people applied for police clearance online in Comilla and Sylhet. Police said 5,500 of them have received clearance certificates. All an applicant needs to do is upload necessary documents and a scanned copy of the receipt of government fees with the application.
